5242 Towers is two residential buildings, Tower 1 and Tower 2, put up by Dubai Properties on the Dubai Marina waterfront. The name gets written a few ways, including 52|42, but it's the same place.

Most of the apartments we look after here are in Tower 1, with one in Tower 2. People live in these towers year-round, so you're a guest in a residential building rather than a hotel. For many visitors that's the appeal.

Life inside the towers

The shared facilities are where this building earns its keep. There are infinity pools, a separate splash pool and play area for children, and podium gardens with private decks to sit out on. If you want to stay active, there's an indoor gym, an outdoor gym, a jogging trail and running track, and sports courts. There are also BBQ areas, a spa and sauna, and a residents' lounge for when it's too hot outside.

Security runs around the clock, there's retail at the base, and the building has its own beach access. The honest downside of a well-equipped residential tower is that you share all of this with the people who live here. The pool and play areas will feel like part of a neighbourhood, not a private resort.

What we have here

One-bedroom apartments make up the bulk of what we manage in 5242, and they suit couples or a small family on a holiday of a week or two. Alongside them we usually have something bigger: a two-bedroom, and a three-bedroom with an extra assistant's room and a balcony. Some units face the marina and some look towards the sea. Check each listing for the view, because it varies from flat to flat.

Who it suits

Families do well here, thanks to the kids' splash pool and play area and the beach access. Anyone who likes a morning run or a proper gym session will be happy too. The setting is the Marina waterfront itself, and there are shopping malls nearby for the practical errands. If you'd rather have a hotel lobby and room service, this isn't that kind of building.

It depends on the apartment, and each listing says which tower it's in. Most of ours are in Tower 1. Both towers sit on the same waterfront and are part of the same development.

Can I get to the beach from the building?

Yes, the building has beach access. Ask us when you send your dates and we'll explain how it works for the apartment you're looking at.

Where would I leave a car during my stay?

The building has allocated parking. Whether a space comes with a particular apartment can differ, so tell us you'll be driving when you send your dates, and we'll check that flat for you before you arrive.
