Living above a hotel

The pool is the thing most guests remember. There's an infinity pool looking out over the Dubai Marina skyline, a 45m outdoor pool for proper lengths, and a separate children's pool. A poolside lounge and restaurant means you can stay there through lunch.

Indoors there's a fitness centre, a spa with a steam room and jacuzzi, and access to the hotel's food and drink outlets, including fine dining. Families get a kids' club and play area. If you're working while you're here, there's a business lounge and meeting rooms. Security runs 24/7.

Our apartments come with one allocated parking slot. If you're arriving as two cars, plan for only one space. And because it's a hotel and a mall entrance rolled into one, the lower floors are rarely quiet. Upstairs is a different matter.

Couples and solo travellers who want hotel comforts without a hotel room usually settle into the one-bedrooms quickly. Families do well here too, because of the children's pool and kids' club. If you'd rather cook and eat out in equal measure, having the mall downstairs makes both easy.
